International law firm Maples and Calder has announced plans to provide Irish transaction advice to UK clients from its London office.

Three key partners will provide advice from Aldersgate Street to meet the “international requirements of UK based clients in light of recent EU developments”, the firm said.

Nicholas Butcher, managing partner of the firm’s Dublin office, said the announcement is “an exciting development for our Dublin and London practices as well as for the international firm as a whole”.

Mr Butcher (pictured) added: “It further extends our global Irish network and complements our existing Irish practices in the Cayman Islands and Hong Kong. It also demonstrates our commitment to London and UK-based clients and referrers and underscores our collaborative approach to advising clients alongside their existing UK advisers with respect to Brexit and other European advice needs.”

Partners Donna Ager, head of the firm’s European aviation pratice, and Adam Donoghue, investment funds specialist, have relocated permanently from Dublin to London as part of the new structure.

Maples and Calder has also appointed international corporate lawyer Nigel Wilson as a partner, who will join them in London.
