Marguerite Bolger SC to lead Sláintecare talks with hospital consultants
Barrister Marguerite Bolger SC has been reportedly been appointed by ministers to lead talks with hospital consultants about the roll-out of Sláintecare.
Ms Bolger will chair talks in September aimed at persuading medical specialists who will work exclusively within the new public system to accept a revised contract, The Irish Times reports.
The government is offering salaries ranging from €190,000 to €227,000 for hospital consultants who take the new contract, with pay rising to between €210,000 to €252,000 by mid-2022.
Initial talks in May were unsuccessful because the government said it was merely seeking “feedback” rather than opening negotiations. Next month’s talks are expected to be more robust.
