Mark O’Connell BL nominated for District Court bench
Barrister Mark O’Connell BL has been nominated for appointment to the District Court bench.
Mr O’Connell will fill the vacancy arising from the retirement of Judge Olann Kelleher last month.
He was educated at Trinity College Dublin, Dublin City University, University College Dublin and the Honourable Society of King’s Inns, and called to the Bar in 1999.
He was vice-chairman of the Employment Appeals Tribunal from 2003 until 2012, and also lectures in media law at DCU.
The government has taken the necessary steps to formally advise President Higgins of the nomination in accordance with constitutional practice.
