Matheson Creativity Hub to be established at IMMA
A new community space is to be created in the heart of the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) in partnership with law firm Matheson.
The museum is now showcasing six proposals for the Matheson Creativity Hub in Memory of Tim Scanlon following an architectural competition organised in conjunction with Matheson’s arts committee.
The competition invited proposals for a “convivial space that invites exceptional architecture and design to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment that allows for experimentation, supports creative engagement, and social connectivity for audiences of all ages”.
The six proposals now on display are by AB Projects & Atelier Rae; borien & Ben Mullen; Broken Fields; Diogo Passarinho Studio (D_P_S); Resolve; and Studio Makkink & Bey.
The new space will be dedicated in memory of the late Tim Scanlon, a former chairman of Matheson and a board member of IMMA from 2016 to 2020.
The winning design will be announced in March, after which IMMA will work with the winning architectural practice to realise their proposal.
