Dr Noelle Higgins, who lectures in international criminal law, public international law, and The Rights of Minorities and Indigenous Peoples, contributed to Damages for Violations of Human Rights: A Comparative Study of Domestic Legal Systems.

Dr Higgins is also course director of Maynooth University Department of Law’s LLM in International Justice.

Her chapter addresses when and how damages are awarded for breaches of human rights in Ireland and discusses recent developments in this field, including the ex gratia symphysiotomy redress scheme and the recent case of O’Keeffee v Ireland before the European Court of Human Rights.
