He died peacefully at the Bon Secours Hospital on Wednesday and his funeral took place in private.

Mr Enright, who practised for nearly 50 years, is survived by his wife Mary and his children Ronan and Gail, who are also practising lawyers.

Tributes were paid to Mr Enright at a special sitting of Cork District Court on Friday, the Irish Examiner reports.

Judge Olann Kelleher told the court: “Michael Enright, who has passed away, was a well-respected solicitor and president of the Southern Law Association. He was a solicitor for 47 years.

“One of his achievements was as chairman of the litigation committee where he changed the way in which such matters were dealt with and a very efficient system was brought in for the personal injuries list.”
