Mícheál P O’Higgins SC
Mícheál P O’Higgins SC, a former chair of The Bar of Ireland, has been nominated by ministers for appointment to the High Court bench.
In addition, barrister Elizabeth Maguire SC and solicitor Simon McAleese have been nominated for appointment as judges of the Circuit Court.
The nominations were agreed by the Cabinet on Tuesday and will now go to the president for appointment.
Mr O’Higgins was called to the Bar in 1990 and appointed senior counsel in 2008. He served as chairman of the Bar from 2018 to 2020.
He works as a barrister in general practice with a particular specialisation in administrative, crime and constitutional law.
