Mr Justice Woulfe to sit for first time today
Mr Justice Séamus Woulfe will sit on the Supreme Court for the first time today and on the Court of Appeal next month.
The former Attorney General was appointed to the Supreme Court last summer but has never heard a case because of the fallout around the ‘golfgate’ dinner he attended in spite of Covid-19 restrictions.
He will sit with Mr Justice Donal O’Donnell and Mr Justice Peter Charleton as part of a panel meeting for consideration of “in chambers” applications received seeking leave to appeal.
According to The Irish Times, he will also sit on the Court of Appeal next month to hear a number of appeals. This is believed to reflect his offer to make amends for the golf dinner saga by assisting with shortages of judges in lower courts.
