Belfast firm Napier & Sons Solicitors has been appointed to provide employment and public law services for Education Authority NI.

Following a two-stage process, including an interview against one of Northern Ireland’s largest law firms, Napier & Sons has been selected to deliver the services to the EA for the next three years.

This success follows on the back of two other notable gains in the last eight months, when the firm successfully tendered for litigation contracts with both the Education Authority and the newly restructured Ards and North Down Borough Council.

The small-to-medium-sized practice, established by James J Napier in 1928, said the latest appointment shows that it is continuing to thrive nearly 90 years on and is now rivalling some of Northern Ireland’s leading firms in attracting new clients.

John Gordon, managing partner, said: “We are delighted to be able to not only compete for but to win public procurement contracts for such high profile and important clients.

“Whilst the firm may be best known in Northern Ireland legal circles for its bankruptcy and insolvency work, these recent appointments demonstrate the strength of our departments across a range of practice areas.

“The market has undoubtedly become much more competitive, but we are testament to the fact that smaller businesses in the service industry sector can adapt and grow despite difficult economic circumstances.

“I would like to pay tribute to my very skilled and dedicated team of solicitors for their continued commitment and drive.”
