New code of practice for flexible and remote working requests
The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) has published a code of practice for employers and employees on the right to request flexible working and remote working.
The 32-page document was published today following a public consultation last year, which drew responses from trade unions and employer representative bodies.
The code of practice is required under Part 4 of the Work Life Balance and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2023 and sets out practical guidance for employers and employees as to the steps that may be taken for complying with the requirements of the Act in relation to applications for flexible or remote working.
It is admissible in evidence in proceedings before a court, the Labour Court or an adjudication officer appointed under section 40 of the Workplace Relations Act 2015.
