Northern Ireland employment tribunals to resume in-person hearings at Killymeal House
In-person hearings at Killymeal House will resume later this month, the Office of the Industrial Tribunals and Fair Employment Tribunal (OITFET) has announced.
The main tribunals building will reopen for hearings from Monday 25 April 2022. The hearing rooms at Adelaide House, which were used on a temporary basis, will no longer be available.
Social distancing measures and mitigations, detailed on the tribunals website, will remain in place at Killymeal House.
Commenting on the announcement, employment lawyer Rosemary Connolly told Irish Legal News: “It is indeed good news that Killymeal House will re-open for in-person hearings on April 25th. However the understanding is that there will still be reduced capacity there taking account of the current risk assessment.
“Unfortunately facilities which had been available at Adelaide House will no longer be available so it will remain to be seen whether capacity is actually increased at all.
“Undoubtedly a significant backlog of cases will have built up over the past number of years and for that reason the withdrawal of the Adelaide House facilities is to be regretted.”
