Oireachtas committee hears of public services card concerns

The Oireachtas joint committee on employment affairs and social protection today heard from legal professionals on the public services card and its compatibility with the law.
The committee heard concerns this morning from the Irish Council for Civil Liberties (ICCL), which “believes the scheme is questionable in law, and dangerous in relation to privacy”.
Simon McGarr of McGarr Solicitors also appeared before the committee to discuss privacy concerns.
