Patricia MacBride appointed to NI Judicial Appointments Commission
Patricia MacBride has been appointed as a lay member of the Northern Ireland Judicial Appointments Commission (NIJAC).
Ms MacBride, who was a lay magistrate from 2005 until 2008, has been appointed for a five-year term until 2 September 2029.
She works in refugee and asylum law, and has significant director-level experience that spans the public sector, private sector and third sector, specialising in communication, regulatory and legislative compliance, equality and diversity, and strategic planning.
She holds an LLM in human rights law and transitional justice from Ulster University, as well as a diploma in management and leadership from the Chartered Management Institute and a diploma in mediation from the European Security and Defence College.
Ms MacBride served as commissioner for victims and survivors from 2008 until 2012 and was responsible for the development of a comprehensive needs assessment which informed government policy and spend in respect of victims and survivors of the conflict.
She is also a former chair of the charity Victim Support at Court, is a trustee of Gaelscoil naSpeiríní and director of Women in Media (CIC).
