Paul Tweed representing Northern Data AG in social media case
Belfast lawyer Paul Tweed has been hired to represent German IT giant Northern Data AG in legal proceedings to be brought against Twitter in the Irish courts, according to reports.
The company is bringing proceedings following an alleged “smear campaign” by anonymous social media accounts, which led to a sharp decline in its stock price on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
In a statement to shareholders, the company said it was attacked with “defamatory and outright false or deliberately misleading allegations through social media”, The Times reports.
Earlier this year, Mr Tweed’s media law specialist firm was acquired by Gateley for £2 million.
