Physical visits to Irish prisons to be suspended before Christmas
Physical visits to Irish prisons will be suspended from midnight tomorrow under the latest Covid-19 restrictions.
All physical visits booked after 24 December 2020 have now been cancelled and families have been urged to rebook a video visit.
In a statement, the Irish Prison Service said: “We regret that we must cancel these visits and understand that many families will be disappointed however, we will continue to make video visits available during this time and all prisoners have been granted an additional daily phone call.
“Please be assured that we will restore family visits as soon as possible in accordance with the Government and Public Health advice.”
