Legally Fond, hosted by Pierce O’Meara, Alex MacDonnell and Gavin Dowd, aims to explain complex legal cases in issues in simple terms to law students and those with an interest in the law.

The podcast was launched in March and has been crowned best student podcast at the YAP Ireland Podcast Awards, sponsored by Newstalk and EY.

Explaining the idea behind the podcast, Mr Dowd said: “We had seen the increase in popularity of true crime podcasts, but there was little on the market catering to those with an interest in law.”

The podcast has so far covered issues such as adverse possession, compulsory vaccinations, defamation, and has interviewed Senator Ivana Bacik on the emergency coronavirus laws.
