Policing Authority launches consultation on Garda code of ethics
Members of the public have been invited to contribute to a code of ethics for An Garda Síochána.
The Policing Authority plans to consult on the text of a draft code in autumn 2016 but is currently seeking the “preliminary views of the public, people who work for the Garda Síochána and other key stakeholders”.
A statement online said: “We would encourage contributions from any state agencies, civil society groups or individuals who have an interest in policing matters, work for the Garda Síochána or are directly or indirectly affected by the work of the Gardaí.
“This call for preliminary views and comments is an important opportunity for organisations and interested members of the public to offer their views to the Authority on what the Code should contain and why.”
The consultation paper can be found on the Authority’s website.
