Lectures at the summer school are given by leading academics on the subject as well as by legal professionals working at the International Criminal Court.

The course is particularly aimed at postgraduate students, legal professionals, scholars, and those working for civil society or international organisations.

Participants are provided with a detailed working knowledge of the establishment of the Court, its structures and operations, and the applicable law. Lectures will cover issues such as the crime of genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, the crime of aggression, jurisdiction, fair trial rights, and the rules of procedure and evidence.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the ICC Summer School, which will be marked by a series of special events.

There are a number of scholarships are available, covering both the registration fee and accommodation. The closing date for scholarship applications is 1 March 2019.

Registration for the ICC Summer School will open in February: an early bird registration fee of €400 is available for delegates who register before 1 April 2019, with the fee after that date being €450.

The registration fee includes all conference materials, all lunches and refreshments, a social activity and a closing dinner. The registration fee also includes a complimentary copy of Professor William Schabas’ book An Introduction to the International Criminal Court (Cambridge University Press). The closing date for registrations is 1 June 2019.
