Simmons & Simmons becomes lead sponsor of women’s rugby at Railway Union RFC
International law firm Simmons & Simmons has become the lead sponsor of women’s rugby at Railway Union RFC under a new two-year sponsorship deal.
Railway Union, which is based in Sandymount, Dublin 4, is a leading club in women’s rugby and one of Ireland’s oldest rugby clubs, founded in 1905.
Under the sponsorship agreement, the Simmons logo will feature on the jerseys of Railway Union’s two senior women’s teams, Women’s 15s and Women’s 7s. The Simmons logo will also feature on the pitch perimeter at the club’s grounds and on the club website.
Railway Union’s Senior Women’s 15s first team competes in the All Ireland League and its second team in the Leinster League Division 1. The club’s Senior Women’s 7s team competes in a number of tournaments in both Ireland and abroad, including the All Ireland 7s series.
The club claimed their first All Ireland League title in 2019, as well as winning the All Ireland 7s championship the same year. Railway Union has and continues to produce players that play on the Irish national 15s and 7s teams, as well as with Leinster, Munster, Ulster and Connacht teams.
Fionán Breathnach, partner and country head for Ireland at Simmons & Simmons, said: “Simmons is delighted to become the new sponsor of women’s rugby at Railway Union. It is a point of pride for the firm to support a community-based club which promotes inclusion in sport regardless of background, belief, sexual orientation, race or gender.
“We look forward to standing by Railway Union as it continues to build upon its legacy of excellence in rugby.”
Melissa Slevin, president of Railway Union RFC, added: “We are very proud and grateful to have Simmons & Simmons on board as the new sponsor of women’s rugby at Railway Union.
“It is only with the support of like-minded partner organisations such as Simmons that we can continue to provide best in class coaching, facilities and training to our excellent teams, which have consistently achieved success at the highest level of the sport.”
