Squire Patton Boggs to launch Irish office led by Dennis Agnew
Global law firm Squire Patton Boggs has announced plans to establish an Irish office in Dublin next year, led by current Pinsent Masons partner Dennis Agnew.
Expected to open on 1 May 2023, the new office will be the firm’s 15th location in Europe, complementing an international platform of over 40 offices worldwide.
Mr Agnew, who leads the Irish transactions team at Pinsent Masons and was a founding partner of its Dublin office, will become its managing partner. He advises international and Irish companies on cross-border mergers and acquisitions across a variety of sectors.
Mark Ruehlmann, chair and global CEO at Squire Patton Boggs, said: “Launching in Ireland, one of the world’s fastest growing economies, is another important milestone in our global expansion and reaffirms our commitment to providing clients with premium counsel wherever they do business.”
Steve Mahon, global managing partner for clients and strategy, said: “In a post-Brexit world, Ireland continues to emerge as an important centre for business activity spanning several key areas of our global practice, including private equity, tech and life sciences.
“Our Dublin office will open up new opportunities for our firm and benefit clients who are already doing business and planning investments in Ireland.”
Paul Mann, head of the private equity practice, said: “The growth we have experienced across our pan-European funds and corporate practices, coupled with the inbound investment opportunities from our extensive US practice make this a logical step for us.
“Dennis is a seasoned practitioner with a strong track-record advising domestic and international companies on a diverse range of cross border matters. We are delighted that he is joining us as an integrated member of our global team and anticipate further additions in the near future.”
EMEA managing partner Jonathan Jones added: “Dennis’ extensive network of contacts and established track record of successfully launching greenfield offices make him an excellent choice to lead this important expansion effort for our firm.
“We are committed to building a differentiated offering for Irish clients and international businesses with investments in the country.”
