Terence McCrann appointed to National Gallery board
Former McCann FitzGerald partner Terence McCrann has been appointed to the board of governors and guardians of the National Gallery of Ireland.
Mr McCrann, who retired last year and remains a consultant with the firm where he was a partner for three decades, is among three new appointees who will serve a five-year term on the board.
He brings extensive experience in the area of legal, human resources and employee relations.
He has over 30 years’ experience in advising boards in the commercial and non-commercial State sector on the exercise of their statutory powers, issues of corporate governance as well as interaction with parent government departments.
He also brings a vast expertise of best practices in HR and employee relations, including but not limited to the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion, to the board of the National Gallery.
Culture minster Catherine Martin said: “I am delighted to announce the appointments of these candidates with a diversity of experience which will support the operations and ambition of the National Gallery of Ireland for the coming five years.
“I would like to congratulate all three appointees and thank them for taking on these important roles. I wish them the very best during their terms.”
Mary Keane, chairperson of the National Gallery of Ireland board of governors and guardians, added: “2024 is the 170th anniversary of the establishment of the Gallery through the National Gallery of Ireland Act (1854) and the 160th anniversary of the opening of the Gallery.
“We also commence a new five-year strategic phase in 2024 and these appointments bring a breadth of experience, which will enable our important work.”
