Trainee solicitors succeed in Kilimanjaro hike for law centre

A team of trainee solicitors have successfully climbed Kilimanjaro in a bid to raise funds for Ballymun Community Law Centre.

Matthew Mulrooney, Eoghan Davis, Sophie Walsh, Fearghal Ryan, Oliver Dunne, Daniel Donoghue, Dylan Byrne and Hamzza Khosa have achieved their target of raising €10,000 for the community law centre — and are continuing to welcome donations via Gofundme.

The group set out to help provide the law centre “with the necessary resources in order to provide legal services to the community and safeguard their commitment to ensuring access to justice for all”.

In 2023 alone, Ballymun Community Law Centre answered 530 legal queries and provided 452 one-to-one consultations with a solicitor. The centre acts in areas of law that fall outside the protections of the criminal legal aid and civil legal aid schemes.
