Two new partners at Fieldfisher Ireland
Fieldfisher Ireland LLP has appointed Jonathan Moore and Johan Verbruggen as partners, bringing its total partner count to 15.
Mr Moore joins the firm’s planning and environmental practice, while Mr Verbruggen will head up its medical negligence team.
The appointments follow the recent promotion of Ciara Burke as partner and head of data protection and privacy.
Mr Moore’s appointment responds to the establishment of the Environmental High Court division, which has dealt with around 300 judicial reviews since 2020. He will also head up the firm’s multi-disciplinary ESG services team, which will assist clients with new reporting requirements under the EU Green Deal.
Mr Verbruggen, a Galway native, will lead the medical negligence practice for Fieldfisher Ireland, collaborating closely with Fieldfisher’s UK medical negligence practice, led by Iona Meeres-Young. Since qualifying in 2016, he has represented injured patients and families of those who have died in hospital in a number of high-profile cases and inquests.
Fieldfisher Ireland managing partner JP McDowell said: “The expansion of Fieldfisher’s expertise aligns seamlessly with the firm’s extensive institutional knowledge and years of experience in the healthcare, planning and environmental spaces.
“We’re delighted to welcome Johan and Jonathan to the partnership and I have no doubt that both will be great assets to our firm in their new roles.”
Mr Moore said: “I have enjoyed being part of Fieldfisher’s exceptional planning and environmental team for the last number of years and I look forward to delivering strong results for clients over the coming years in my new role, in both planning and environmental law, and the wider ESG area.”
Mr Verbruggen said: “I welcome the opportunity to join a leading international firm and collaborate with my new colleagues across Ireland and internationally.
“As somebody who has been personally affected by medical negligence, I understand the difficulties faced by injured patients and their families, and I look forward to helping clients across Ireland navigate the complexities of these cases in my new role.”
