UCD to host workshop on anti-LGTBQ hate crime
A two-day workshop on anti-LGTBQ hate crime is to take place at University College Dublin later this month as legislators consider plans for new hate crime legislation.
The event, part of a project called ‘Enabling Civil Society and Academia Collaboration in the Area of Anti-LGBTQ+ Hate Crime’, will take place from 24 to 25 May 2023.
It will bring together members of civil society, police, academia, as well as politicians and activists to discuss the rise of the anti-LGBTQ hate crime and the proposed hate crime legislation.
Representatives from LGBT Ireland, BeLonG To, Intersex Ireland, An Garda Síochána and the Irish Network Against Racism will be present, with guest speakers including Jennifer Schweppe of the International Network for Hate Studies, UCD’s Eugenia Siapera and poet/activist Sarah Clancy.
More information and tickets for the free event are available from Eventbrite.
