Vicky Fox

Ms Fox is currently the director of regulation and insight at the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA). She was called to the bar in 1995 and has 15 years’ experience as a government lawyer, including work at the Department for Work and Pensions and the Department of Health.

She was head of guidance, party and election finance at the Electoral Commission before moving to work at IPSA as director of MP support services and then in 2018 as director of regulation and insight.

The post was advertised during March and April this year, and applications were considered by a selection panel chaired by a civil service commissioner.

Ms Fox said: “It’s a great privilege to be joining the UK Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has a vital and unique role within our democracy. I’m looking forward to working with colleagues, the Justices and others to build on the excellent foundation of the Supreme Court’s first ten years, upholding the Court’s independence and working to promote transparency and public confidence in the rule of law.”

Lord Reed, President of the Supreme Court, said: “Vicky Fox brings a wealth of experience to the role of chief executive of the Supreme Court, including legal experience in government and leadership experience at a number of public bodies, most recently the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority.

“These are challenging times for the court, but she is well equipped to meet the challenges. I look forward to working with her in the years ahead and wish her many congratulations on her appointment.”
