William Fry congratulates winners at Irish Junior Lawn Tennis Championship
William Fry LLP has congratulated the prize-winners at the Irish Junior Lawn Tennis Championship, which the law firm sponsored for the 13th year in a row.
The event, which takes place at the Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club in Dublin 4 and features Ireland’s most talented young tennis stars, is one of the oldest amateur sporting events in the world, having held its first championship in 1914.
This year’s event commenced on Friday 12 August and concluded with the staging of the grand finals in various categories and the presentation of prizes to the winners on Saturday 20 August.
As well as being one of the most prestigious events in youth tennis, the championships also act as a scouting event for young stars with intentions of dipping their toes in the world of professional tennis in the years to come. A total of 448 young players participated in this year’s event.
Liam McCabe, chairman at William Fry, said: “We realise that major junior sporting events need sponsorship and we are delighted to have supported Tennis Ireland and the Junior Lawn Tennis Championships of Ireland this year, for a 13th year in a row.
“Only the best get to compete in Junior Fitz — as it’s called — so it is a great achievement to be one of the 448 who participated across the different age categories.
“It is a very special thing to win a national title, so particular congratulations are due to the winners of the finals. It is a tremendous achievement and something they will never forget.”
