Judge Elizabeth MacGrath has passed away at the age of 65. The district judge in Tipperary died on Wednesday night after a short period of illness. She had worked as a solicitor for 24 years before her appointment as a judge in 2007.

Retired Belfast solicitor John H. Walker has passed away. Mr Walker was admitted to the roll of solicitors in 1960 and was principal of John G H Wilson & Company Solicitors before retiring in 1997.
Former Law Society of Northern Ireland president Tony McGettigan has passed away. Mr McGettigan qualified as a solicitor in 1975 and was principal of Enniskillen firm P J Flanagan & Co until his retirement last June.
Former Bar Council director Jerry Carroll has passed away following a short illness. Mr Carroll passed away last Friday 24 May and will be buried at Shanganagh Cemetery today, according to rip.ie.
Retired Co Antrim solicitor John M. Boyd has passed away at the age of 78. Mr Boyd, who qualified in January 1972, passed away on Wednesday, according to the Law Society of Northern Ireland.
Well-known Dublin solicitor Ivor Fitzpatrick has passed away following a period of illness. Mr Fitzpatrick, who was 68, passed away at home on Sunday after what a death notice said was "a difficult illness bravely borne".

The Law Society of Northern Ireland's past president James G. Doran has passed away. Mr Doran, who passed away on Sunday, was born in 1927 and was admitted as a solicitor in 1953.
Philip Lee lawyer Peter Crawford has unexpectedly passed away, the firm announced over the weekend. Mr Crawford died at home in Balbriggan last Thursday, according to a notice published on rip.ie. His funeral will take place tomorrow morning at S.S. Peter & Paul's Church.
Retired Northern Ireland resident magistrate John Fyffe has passed away. Mr Fyffe was admitted to the roll of solicitors in 1958 and began his legal career in his family firm in Omagh, Co Tyrone before joining the Department of the Director of Public Prosecutions in 1972.
Retired Northern Ireland solicitor Alan Kirk has passed away. Mr Kirk was admitted to the roll of solicitors in 1978 and was a consultant in private practice with Co Antrim firm Joseph Lockhart & Son. He retired in January 2016.
Belfast solicitor Sam Creighton, principal at Creighton & Company Solicitors, has passed away following an illness. Mr Creighton died peacefully at Marie Curie Hospice on 23 December 2023 and his funeral took place at Bloomfield Presbyterian Church and Roselawn Cemetery on Tuesday.
Barrister Frank Shields BL passed away Sunday following a short illness. Originally from Dungannon, Mr Shields was a well-known family lawyer practising in Dublin. He called to the Bar in 1991.
Mr Justice Joseph Finnegan, a former president of the High Court and judge of the Supreme Court, has passed away at the age of 81. He died peacefully on Saturday following a short illness, The Irish Times reports. Funeral arrangements have not yet been publicised.
