Northern Ireland's most senior government lawyer, Hugh Widdis, has been appointed as permanent secretary of the Department of Justice. Mr Widdis is currently the head of the Government Legal Service for Northern Ireland and the Departmental Solicitor for the Northern Ireland Executive.
